Cathode resistor R8 2.2k on 1st mixer could be high, also R9 screen resistor 330k could be high or
screen bypass C10A (the ones in the metal cans - three together - I had to replace the lot) could
be leaky.
There is a mod for the 2nd IF - Replace R22 (1k) with 270 Ohm, replace R23 (6.8K) with 33k and
connect it directly to junction of R24 and C26 and 3rd IF can. I can send you info on this, I got
it from the Hallicrafters site.
I can recommend these mods, realy makes the old girl pick up those weak signals.
