Hi All,
I am still looking for a whip antenna for my SW-500. If anyone has one to
sell please email me at wormchile at aol.com.
There have been some interesting recent discussions concerning potentially
hazardous materials as used in the old boat anchors manufactured before the
1970's. It goes without saying that good ventilation is a must when cleaning and
restoring these old rigs. Also, a good investment would be a box of the plastic
or rubber gloves as used by food service people. These can be had reasonably
at places like Sam's Club and should go a long way toward preventing unwanted
skin irritations.
Finally, a non-Hallicrafters item. I recently acquired an old Allied/Knight
receiver and am desperately in search of information on it. From the looks of
its handsome Art Deco wood cabinet it was built in the latter 1930's - maybe
1937-38. It has 6 tubes plus an electric eye tuner and tunes the AM broadcast
band plus 2 short wave bands: 1.55-6.00 MHz and 5.70-17.00 MHz. I would
appreciate hearing by email from anyone who has any information about this old brand
and will send photos and chassis layouts to anyone willing to help. I plan on
restoring the old rig but need schematics and alignment information.
Thanks for any help
