Hi gang,
I want to thank all those who sent their recommendation on fixing my RF feedback problem and scratching noises from the antenna trimmer cap. The antenna trimmer cap was fixed by a small quantity of Deoxit spray in the shaft that cured the scratching noises. The RF feedback seems to have originated mainly from a maladjusted noise limiter and AVC. It seems that this adjustment had been tampered with by a former owner and was way out of specs. AVC action now is much better as well as the function of the noise limiter. The adjustment must be made exactly as the manual instructs you to do it. It's a little pain but it pays off well. The SX28 is back in the cabinet and working very nicely now on all bands.
