Hi John
There was a period in Canada's history when all who owned a radio receiver had to have this license to operate it. I'm not referring to amateur radio, just the regular broadcast radios and short wave receivers. I believe the cost was $1.00 per year if my memory is correct. Yes, you are right, the label does read Hallicrafters Canada, but that is very misleading. Some of the metal labels state "Hallicrafters Canada" and then below it will have Rogers Majestic Co. etc. Based on what Tom Harrison has told me, Rogers were the only people who had access to selling Hallis in Canada. I have never heard of a Hallicrafters manufacturing plant here in Canada.Tom Harrison's E-mail is harrison at axxent.ca . He is a wonderful person to converse with and is 85 years young. Tom has been a major help to me in my restorations of Hallicrafters radios and others too! I am sure he would love to hear from you in regards to our emails. Take care for now and good luck!
best regards always,
