Concerning your SC-40B I can lay to rest any theories of Canadian manufacture, it just didn't happen. Hallicrafters would ship their radios to the Rogers Majestic Company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the Canadian market. In most cases the American 65 cycle power transformers were taken out and replaced with the 25 cycle transformer, needed to operate in Canada. Why they did not do this in Chicago is beyond me. I can say this with certainty as a good friend of mine Tom Harrison of Toronto worked for Rogers Majestic at the time and told me this is what they did. Hope this helps.
