Hi Again....
Thanks to Chuck, Mike, Steve, and George for your responses and offers, I do appreciate it very much.
After I slept on my problem of yesterday, I did a little troubleshooting and once again, removed the IF can from the chassis. I found my path to ground caused by a mis-wired lead I caused while freshening up the mica resonating capacitors across the coils. I just finished up aligning both the .455 & 10.7 Mhz IF's and the set is playing pretty good again. I've rebuilt all the IF cans now.
My next problem is sensitivity dropping off on the lower portion of the band. Case in point - Band 2 (1.5 to 5 Mhz) the receiver goes quiet below 2.2 Mhz. I have aligned the band and that's the best I can do. Other bands are similar but less severe.... Anyone had similar symptoms???
	Thanks again for your help.....

Hi Chuck:

Try http://www.antiquehamradio.com , choose the Hallicrafters receiver link (scroll down about half way on the page and you'll find it in the right hand column) and look at the bottom of page 6 and the top of page 7. As of this writing, there are 69 Hallicrafters receivers for sale - either being parted out or sold intact. You'll find 3 SX-42's among them.

Good luck!

	Hi All....
Still working on my SX-42 (Early SN: #HA59397) and have a shorted winding
on the 455KC Input side and would like to replace the can if possible. The
can bears the stamped number 50H190.
I remember a short time ago that someone was parting out a '42 and I would
like to obtain this "IF" if available.
Thanks in advance for your help....
