The forty meter band, remember it? Well, today it was more tempermental than a
childless female going through a hormone crisis in her late thirties while being
hammered by PMS. Not a good place to be! Stations faded in from just above the
high static floor and then vanished as the MUF shifted gears. Storms approaching
Michigan from the west were causing all sorts of atmospheric noise and the band
was running to the east coast. I was hearing nobody in between. The only strong
signal was from a mobile in NY.
At 1730 UTC I powered the station down, so if you were there after that and did
not hear me, that is one of the two possibilities. The other being the
meteorological propagation ping pong match that was in progress.
