I have both SX-16 and 17 with the knobs.  They came from Halli that way.
Also,
many got broke off or replaced with the non-pointer knobs over the years.

Interesting.  Most of the replies indicate the pointer with the
"Witness" line is there.  One reply says he doesn't have it either.
I wonder if some of the SX-17's were made without it and some with
it or someone came out with a mod that most hams made to their SX-17's.
