[Hallicrafters] S-118

Hello folks,

I am new to the list. I see a lot of activity here. I am not a HAM (yet). I hope it's ok to ask a question in my first post.

I picked up a S-118 receiever today at a flee market. It works great but I got a shock form the chasis. Further investigation revealed 55.6 V to referenced to an external ground. I am guessing that this is not normal. Any ideas on the sorce given the described voltage?
