[Hallicrafters] 8235= 8236

 Back again,

If we throw out the two typos it is an 8236.
It was a spare for an SR500 from many years ago. There should be two of
them, but I only found the one.

I have no way of verifying whether it is good, but other than the original
test when I purchased it. (I plugged in the pair and tuned up the rig ..
then put them in storage) It hasn't been mistreated with physical handeling
and hasn't been in a rig since the initial test. Beyond that I have no idea.

Could that tube be an 8536 instead of an 8535? The SR500 uses 2 8236 tubes
in

the final. Those 8236 tubes are pretty scarce, and pricey when one can find
them. 8236 has the same basing as 6DQ5, and is a stronger version of same
with
the same 6.3 v filament. The SR500 is basically a SR160 on steroids, the
steroids being the 2 8236s instead of the SR160's 2 6DQ5s, plus a few other
do-hickii (especially a beefier power supply) to make the heavier tubes
work.
The little stick-on sign on the SR500 actually covers up a SR160 front panel
(was interesting to see that when I replaced a damaged stick-on for my
SR500,
which miraculously fell into my hands).

Have you tested it to see if it is good?
