Could that tube be an 8536 instead of an 8535? The SR500 uses 2 8236 tubes in
the final. Those 8236 tubes are pretty scarce, and pricey when one can find
them. 8236 has the same basing as 6DQ5, and is a stronger version of same with
the same 6.3 v filament. The SR500 is basically a SR160 on steroids, the
steroids being the 2 8236s instead of the SR160s 2 6DQ5s, plus a few other
do-hickii (especially a beefier power supply) to make the heavier tubes work.
The little stick-on sign on the SR500 actually covers up a SR160 front panel
(was interesting to see that when I replaced a damaged stick-on for my SR500,
which miraculously fell into my hands).
Have you tested it to see if it is good?
