[Hallicrafters] SX-62, good reason it was deaf!

Hi.
I've been working on overhauling that SX-62 that a gentleman brought me for
overhaul last Wednesday.
When it arrived I did a preliminary checkout and found it almost deaf,
working better if I clipped the antenna to the grid of the mixer tube
(bypassing the RF amplifiers.
Well, today I finished recapping all but the 'lytics and was doing a
continuity/shorts check of my work (always a must when doing this big a
project).
I got as far as the plate circuit of the 2nd RF amplifier and found NO
continuity to the B+ line. Closer examination showed a short stub of a wire
coming off the B+ side of all the coils. It took awhile to figure out what
happened but then I found a similar stub coming off the B+ line on the other
side of the shield plate. Examination of the wires showed a little "nub" on
the end of each one and the schematic shows a 1200 Ohm resistor in that
line. Apparently that resistor blew apart so violently that there was no
evidence of its existence, other than the wire stubs! Probably one of the
capacitors I replaced was dead shorted but I'm not going to check all those
greasy waxy critters to see which one it was!
Also while I was at it I replaced 24 resistors that were well out of
tolerance, the audio section required a complete rebuild.
Lastly, I put a fuse holder in the hot lead of the 3 wire power cord.
QUESTION: There is no paper on the back of this set indicating current
consumption. Anybody have any idea how much current this critter draws or
what I should fuse it at?
Tomorrow after church I'm going to check all the tubes, clean the tube
sockets and then do a "smoke test".
