What I did a couple of months ago when I upgraded from
a 450 MHz machine to a 2.0 GHz machine was to "burn" a
CDROM with the various folders that I needed to use on
my new machine. If you don't have a CDROM burner,
then you can do it with 3.5 inch disks. But, it will
take a lot more disks to get the stuff off. Also,
many programs are larger than what a 3.5 inch disk can
handle.
Since I still have the other machine, I set it up in a
spare bedroom and if I need something else that is on
the machine I just add to whatever CDROM that I was
using to transfer material.
Also, if you have various items that you don't want to
lose, burn a CDROM so that you have a "back up". I
did that also to keep from loading down my new hard
drive with files that I only need to access rarely.
