I'm getting really sick and tired of the constant reference to "drift" when
discussing the "more mature radios"!

Had, perhaps, all for the MMR's when I was a novice and general back in the
1950's, and I happen to know they did not drift at all.

This drift you notice was simply an early, and somewhat primitive, attempt
at "autotune", or "bandscan".
