  The RF alignment you speak of, in the service bulletin, is on page three.  The instructions for the IF alignment starts on page two; and it could be better labeled.  This radio is a bit more complicated then your standard AA5, because of the 455 KHz crystal and two IFs (455 KHz & 10.7 MHz).  Few people would be able to successfully complete an SX-42 alignment without close reference to the written procedure.  

  My copy of the operating instructions/service bulletin were downloaded from the BAMA website.
