[Hallicrafters] Line Voltage

I keep seeing references to high line voltage problems:

Back in the 60s I lived near the head end of a long low voltage distribution
line.
For the voltage to be high enough at that tail end we were very near the
alowable upper limit.

The voltage was high enough on several occasions that we were using light
bulbs at a quite a rate.

On one particularly bad eisode, I measued the voltage at 127. Normal was
between 120 and 125. I called in and reported the high voltage. The
engineer called back and wanted to know how I determined the voltage. I told
him I measured it. He, of course wanted to know how I knew the equipment was
accurate. I told him I calibrated those instruments as part of my job for a
large corporation. ... He, at that point, remarked that he wished I hadn't
said that as being that far out meant a lot of paper work.

I said, let's back up and I want to report I think the voltage is high as we
are using lots of light bulbs. I received profuse thanks and within a few
hours the voltage was back to normal.

I ran Hallicrafters (HT37, SX101, HT33B), Collins (KWS1/75A4, S-Line, and
KWM2), and other assorted equipment at that location over the years. I
never noticed problems with the equipment, or short tube life and I was one
of those who pushed the tubes for every ounce I could get out of them.

I'm not saying there wasn't any, but I never noticed any.
