Good day gentlemen
I would really like to hear from both sides of the "originality" fence on this one. I picked up another SX-32 that has not been touched in any way, no mods and no messing around. I'm certain the radio has not operated in many years. As I gaze at the underside of this unadulterated chassis I find myself fixated with a bazillion paper caps. My other SX-32 is running well and it would be nice to have this one running too, but is there any advantage having a radio in original shape, even though not running! I expanded my vocabulary with some very colourful language while recapping the SX-28A and the 32 looks like a monster compared to it. I'm certain the filter caps died long ago and bringing it up on a variac would probably be of no use. In plain English I just don't want to have the hassles. Al Parker was right on the money when he said I was a glutton for punishment. So, can any of you "purists" come to my defense and give me a few good reasons why I should leave it "as is". Thanks in advance.
