There is a tremendous amount of CW activity on the ham bands everyday. My
suggestion would be for you to take the code test and get on the air. You
should also consider joining FISTS CW Club. http://www.fists.org FISTS
offers a Code Buddy program to help you practice code on the air. If you
make contacts every day, your code speed will increase quickly and you'll be
having a lot of fun.
There is slow code activity on all bands, but 40 and 80-m seem like logical
choices no matter where you are located. There are no Novice subbands on
20-m; 15 and 10-m are not doing well now in this part of the solar cycle.
