The confusion here could be between a 5Z3 and an 83V glowing because of
an overload.  These two appear in a number of other radios which use 2
rectifiers and have an equivalent basing.  The 5Z3 may replace the 83V
but not the other way around.  The 83V has lower ratings in rms plate
voltage and current.

The SX-28 should have a 5Z3 (electrically the same as a 5U4) not an 83V
(the same as a 5V4) nor an 83 which as others have stated, a gas
rectifier.

For proper operation, each requires a different filter input choke
minimum inductance for proper operation.
