I've used nylon cable ties to "fix" these. I don't recall whether or not
there was enough clearance to put the cable tie on first and then pass it
through the panel. I may have used a temporary alternative to work the
"petals" through and then wrapped the meter body. If you use a black
cable tie and orient the fastener part out of view, it does improve the
appearance of the meter when viewed from the top -- and it helps avoid
cutting your hands on the sharp edges of a "bloomin' meter" when you're
workin' on the bloomin' receiver.
Tempted to try aluminum muffler bandage tape, but haven't tried that yet.
While the adhesive is very strong, it might slip over time, so two or
three layers would be needed if that method were to have a chance.
