<< Hallicrafters often times used what was handy when a production run was
going
on. Hence, the often times many different shades of gray on the same model and
version of a rx. This appears to have also been the case with knobs. Probably
a
derivitive from the 'make do' mentality our Nation adopted during the war
years.
Substitutions were very common and often times not reflected in photos or
documentation.
Certainly adds variety, heh?

They weren't the only manufacturers to do so Duane. many production changes
were never recorded by Hammarlund or National either. It was just the way
business was done back then.
