Hello folks........
Many years ago(not that many, maybe 35 or so),my dad helped me build a
crystal set.I sat for days in the basement playing around with
it,fascinated by the voices that I was pulling out of the air with this
simple contraption.
I've always been interested in radio, whether it's playing around with
shortwave,my police scanner,or listening to the talk shows on AM.
Decided to get back into a bit more, even considering geting a ham liscence.
Anyways,I was lucky enough to pick up a nice clean Hallicrafter S-53 on
eBay for next to nothing.Cleaned it up a bit,and noticed one of the tubes
was shot,the 6K6GT.Figuring I had nothing to loose,I popped in a 6L6GC that
I had as an extra for one of my guitar amps.Lo and behold,it worked.
My question is this:Will this harm the radio in any way?????
Thanks in advance to any replies, and I'm looking forward to being a part of
this discussion group and learning a bit more about radio.
