Several weeks ago I asked if anyone had seen either the Sr-500 or later
SR-1000 Consoles
from Hallicrafters. Several had seen the SR-500 pictures in the ARRL
Handbook and one noted that Harrison had one in their used gear list in the
early 60's.
Well I found a picture of HB9RS who was the chief operator at ET3RS on page
81 of the August 1965 QST. The SR-500 is a console mounted complete station
including the SX-100 RX, The HT-30 exciter, and the HT-31 amp which only
runs about 500 watts input not output. This is the same station that I
worked with Rundy W3ZA at the controls in 1960.
Rundy (W3ZA, K4ZA, OD5CT, W3ZA/EP and many other rare calls worked for
Westrex International and installed equipment in Addis Ababa for
telecommunications (mainly phone systems then).
With the modern imaging equipment someone should scan the picture and put it
on a web page.
