[Hallicrafters] SX-28 geared tuning assembly removal

Greetings everyone!

If I remove the faceplate from an SX-28 and look at the tuning assembly that contains all of the gearing, flywheels etc., I sense that I can remove the whole assembly as one unit once the two shafts with differentials have been unscrewed. I would like to give this unit a very thorough cleaning to remove the decades of dust and grease. If anyone out there has removed one of these from the actual chassis, I would love to get some pointers from you, so that I might avoid any possible headaches! I would like to clarify that I do not want to touch any of the tuning capacitors or anything housed within that box. Thank you in advance.
