Mike,

If the HA-8 splatter guard is the one being offered for sale by WA9KXQ, you
would be a foolish person to pass it by! This one is still in the box, as in old
but still 'new'. It has the remote sensor, which you must have. It also has the
original manual. If you do not have his contact info, please contact me and I
will provide it. I did post it to the list about ten days ago, aprox.

You have indeed purchased an excellent transciever. As the NCS for the
Hallicrafters Collectors International, HCI,Nets, I have the unique opportunity
to hear a whole plethora of rigs on the air. Hallicrafters did not make many
transcievers, but the two most often heard are the SR-150 and SR-400/400a.
Running a close second is the SR-2000. It has been argued by some, (not I), that
the SR-150 and SR-400 series are the most dependable and maintenance free of all
the Hallicrafters transcievers. I personally lean toward the SR-150, but that is
only because I had one and was well satisfied with its overall performance. I
have never been fortunate enough to own a SR-400. Santa Claus has not seen his
way fit to leave one beneath my Christmas tree, yet.

You will have a great time with your new transciever Mike. Congratulations. I
hope to hear you on the HCI Nets in the near futre OM!

Well.... I am now the owner of the great SR-400A station I
was asking about earlier... cool. I find it interesting
how many of those that answered my questions on the
SR-400A commented on how you think it's a better radio in
many ways then the venerable Collins KWM-2.

I also have an opportunity to but a HA-8 Splatter Guard at
an attractive price with the SR. How useful are these ?

Mike
