I realize this is off the topic, but it is important and I feel compelled to
make my fellow Hams aware of this. Feel free to press the delete key.
The Ameritron AL-1500 amplifier that I use for NCS duties, has a schematic that
is considerably different than the actual product. So so much so, that it
invites a disaster if you replace components. The resistor in the soft start
cirucit is not the same, the relay wiring is different and so forth.
When I asked Willy in tech support at Ameritron about this, he replied: "We know
the schematic is wrong." I asked if there had been an addendum issued and sent
to owners or if the owners were ever notified that the schematic was way wrong.
"Nope" His advice? "Just ignore the diagrams and replace a part like it came
wired from the factory."
If you happen to own one of these amplifiers, and they are a good product, just
be aware that following the diagram may well lead to a disaster.
