[Hallicrafters] SX-101A Receiver Problem

I would appreciate any suggestions on this problem.

I have a SX-101A that works great,but when I key the HT-32A xmtr the audio on the rcvr drops to a level that I can hardly hear. In about two to three minutes the audio will slowly return to normal!

I'm using a surplus sealed 110 v relay mounted in a small metal box  with three coax fittings for antenna changeover.
