John and gang - On cleaning and polishing knobs - take a look at

I have used lacquer stick to fill in lettering/lines.  Skirts that Jay,
KK5IM, mentions are for Collins.  Suggestion - Take a rod of appropriate
diameter (1/4" for most) and tighten knob on it to use as good handle so
you can hang on to it and keep from having the knob fly across room!
(not a good thing.......)

Have also found Novus plastic polish to work well - comes in three
"grits".  Great for yellowed clear dial covers, BTW.  Antique Electronic
Supply and others carry it and the lacquer sticks.
