A Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of our Irish brethren who truly come from the
Emerald Isles. And to the rest of you who for one day each year, either are a
little bit Irish somewhere in your sorted genetic past, or just fake it to get
green beer and a shamrock pinned on your shirt by a bonnie lass.
After you finish the traditional Irish bacon and cabbage meal, please join us
for the Sunday March 17th Hallicrafters Collectors International 20 meter Net.
It will begin with the pre-Net at 12:45 PM EST, (1745 UTC), where one of our
knowable Halli historians will explain how green beer can be used to remove cold
solder joints and frayed wire insulation.
If that is not enough to stimulate your curiosity to hang around for the
official Net at 1:15 PM EST, (1815 UTC), you have probably already had one too
many Shamrock shakes and need a nap. Not only will the Net be co-hosted by a
Leprechaun who lost his job repairing the shoes of other Elves, but whoever can
run across a rainbow carrying a SX-101a, HT-37 and HT-41 without falling through
it will win a chance to try and snatch a handful of gold coins before the
guardian Troll chops their hand off with a razor sharp UPS box knife!
While the Irish Rovers hum their classic ballad about the Unicorn and Bing
Crosby sings about the wearing of the green, the HCI Net will celebrate the
start of its fourth year of existence. So set a Shamrock on your vintage gear,
get out your lucky four leaf clover and dance a little Irish jig while the
Hallicrafters tubes fill the room with a greenish glow that still goes glow in
the dark.
Join us for some good fun, some Irish wit, some folk lore, some facts and some
fellowship guaranteed to turn somebody green with envy, Irish or not! I hope to
hear you there tomorrow. So join us and let those Irish eyes be smiling! And the
top of the morning to you! And Irene, where ever you are at, good-night.
