Since before Christmas of last year I have been
requesting that anyone sending equipment to me use
FedEx Ground.  I had used UPS since 1970, but their
handling of even triple boxed items had gotten so bad
that I abandoned them completely.

FedEx Ground is cheaper than UPS, and, so far, I have
not had any problems at all with them including
equipment that was not packed properly.

Unfortunately, you can only ship by FedEx Ground at a
FedEx owned counter.  The contract stations normally
only ship by FedEx Air.  You can locate the site
nearest you by going to fedex.com and clicking on the
appropriate box.
