hello all,
I just found a sx-62a in a salvage bin.... I am hoping I
can restore the unit to working condition. cracked glass but dial is good,
knobs good.

The unit powers up, band lights work, tubes glow.
no audio, no hiss, no static. I do hear crackles when the bands are
switched.

what is the best why to start?
replace all the caps. should I just make a list and replace?
using disk or ??? any thing special for audio (polypro).
what have folks done in the past?

I have the op/service manual from bama, but its not clear in
all spots. are there any books on "general restoration"
I have pretty good electronics skills and even some understanding of theory
;-)

so any suggestion on how to begin are welcomed.

chassis cleaning
transformer testing
tube test/replace
cap replace
resistor replace (??)

other

thanks for any advice. looks like a great list and I hope to
contribute....

Jeff
