Mica capacitors do go bad, although much less often
than paper types. If you have sensitivity problems
and can't find anything "wrong" in the normal sense,
then go looking for mica coupling capacitors in the
r.f. or i.f. The Collins 75A4, especially, has
several mica capacitors that tend to cause problems.
