I have just picked up my S-47 from the shop. The service teck was baffled. 
He seemed to check everything. Except the mica cap. They never go 
bad.(WRONG). Now it is working great. very strong audio. And super 
sensitivity. On all bands. I am listening to a couple of guys on 40 Meters. 
7290. Cant wait to do some DXing tonight. So remember check the micas too!
