Hi Fred,

The absolute best quality communications speaker is the one Mororola sells 
for use in their 2-way speaker enclosures.  Check with any Motorola 2-Way 
radio service station.  Measure your speaker first.  I believe it is a 4.5 
inch.

 With any but a Hallicrafters replacement, you will have to drill and tap the 
frame of the speaker to receive the single screw that holds the cover on.  Be 
sure to enclose your working area well, so that metal fragments do not get 
attracted to the voice coil.
