[Hallicrafters] Restoring

Upon reading several postings on the purity of restoring, here's my two
cents.

If all power, audio, chokes, IF transformers, mechanical parts, knobs
etc are there, consider that resistors and caps were replaceable parts
from the beginning. No one thought you would use original factory parts
for repairs in this case. Yes, you can place a new cap inside an older
form but it's still a new cap. The important part is that you do the
electrical restoration with parts that have value equal or nearly equal
to the original. In other words, restore the circuit to its original
electronic specifications. If a few or many orange drops or yellow
axials had to be used, so be it. By the way, I am one of the fellows who
can swear by the yellow poly axials. They also look better than those
big orange things :>).

Best to all!
