Ron and anchorites,

The folks who store archival photographs and documents shriek in horror at
most label adhesives and especially rubber cement. The ingredients attack
paper and fibers. Our radio dial cords are perhaps not irreplaceable
artifacts to be stored under archival conditions, but it's worth noting the
materials we use.

My solution (pun intended) is a saturated solution of rosin in
alcohol. The rosin comes from the sports store, the alcohol from the drug
store. I paint a bit upon the string wherever it needs it and that stops
the slipping.

Ron's tale does show us that we might want to pre-stretch the cord, any
advertising claims not withstanding.

Roy
