The SR series did have the same design as the SX-117/HT-44 pair but as with
other Hallicrafters gear they made several different models.
The SR-150 was a filter 80 to 10 transceiver that was quite good for the
time. Many are still is active use today. Variations included the SR-160
(a tri-band model to compete with the Galaxy III/300). This led to the big
station series SR-500 (later version of the 160) then the SR-750 and the
SR-2000. This was successful enough that the SR-400 was introduced. The
problem was Hallicrafters kept reusing the SR label as they also made the
SR-500 which was a 1957 console unit complete station with SX100 RX, HT30
Exciter and HT-31 amp (see the 1957 ARRL Handbook advertising pages). I
have only heard of one instance of this equipment on the air as I worked
Rundy W3ZA/K4ZA at ET3RS in 1959 and he was using this gear from Ethiopia
Police HQ. Later they came out with the SR-1000 which was another complete
station in a console that included the SX101, HT32 and HT33. The consoles
consisted of the console cabinet, operating desk (actually was a pull out
drawer top ) and all interconnecting cables and switches. These were quite
advanced for the time. There is no relation to the SR series of
Transceivers except SR and the Hallicrafters name.
