[Hallicrafters] Converter for SX-101A?

However, I think that they may have made some R-390
receivers!

The only thing about the R-390/R-390A receivers are
that you will most certainly "build up" the wrist of
which ever hand you use to tune it with!

Actually, the Collins 75A1, 75A2, and 75A3, along with
the 51J/R-388 series are excellent for the tunable
i.f. for converters. The 75A1, 75A2, and 75A3 have
full coverage between 26 and 30 MHz which gives full
coverage of 6 meters, 2 meters, and the 222 MHz band.
In addition, you can get 4 MHz of the 432 MHz band as
well. Of course, the 51J/R-388 receivers cover .5 to
30.5 MHz. These receivers are much easier on the
wrist to tune!

Any good amateur receiver that covers the 10 meter
band will do a good job with converters. Also,
somewhere back in this thread a question was made
about converters for the shortwave broadcast bands.
Over the years I have done this. There was a very
simple tube-type converter that only requires changing
of the coil values that works from 1.5 to at least 50
MHz in 73 magazine back in the 1960s. That one works
quite well, I have built several over the years for
various frequencies.

Of course I don't think Hallcrafters ever built an
R-390A (the obligatory "on topic" sentence).
