Stick a fork in another one I guess. In addition to another no doubt well
intentioned beginning "restorer" acquiring a cleaning lesson the hard way
what are the odds that UPS will finish off that Ranger or give the new owner
more of a project than he was expecting? I am concerned about the recent
explosion in the popularity of internet buying and selling of many of our
remaining old radios followed by the then necessary packing and shipping, are
we are making our old radios rare before their time? It has been my
unfortunate experience most folks, most of the time (not all) just will not
go to the trouble to pack a radio properly after they have cashed your check.
They seem to want to just send it down the road to get rid of it and let the
buyer and UPS work it out because that's what insurance is for. Even if you
get them to agree with your packing requests most will just pack it the way
they want to anyway in an old flimsy used box with some peanuts or crumpled
newspaper. Then when you call to inform them it was damaged they will act
very surprised and say "I just don't understand it!!!, !*#&! ~ I have never
lost one packed that way!" That combined with the position of most beginners
that you must try to make everything look shiny new again... I am getting
concerned.
