There more to it than that. If your analog meter is set on the 50V
scale, and you glance at the meter with peripheral vision and you
see it's slightly less than half scale, you don't really have to read the
meter to determine that the voltage is around 20 to 25 volts.
Whey flying, I like to use an analog clock instead of a digital clock
for the same reason. If you start a maneuver with the hands at
12, and you have to be done in 30 seconds, a quick glance at the
second hand gives you about the same info as actually reading the
digital clock, but you don't have to divert your scan for as long.
I concur with Roy for VTVMs/VOMs. However, for things like
frequency counters, I like digital.
Just my 0.02 adjusted for the post dot com world of course.....
