[Hallicrafters] HT-40

I have a working HT-40 (but only one xtal) which I will get on the air soon now that I've acquired an external VFO.  Is this a pretty good xmtr or a bottom-of-the-line model?  When was is manufactured and what would have been the companion receiver?
