Hi all,

There will be no GVARC club meeting this month because of Field Day and the
Reek Run.

If you are interested in helping out in the Reek Run, contact Pat KG6RLR at
pqm at ix.netcom.com. Pat has been gracious enough to coordinate ham volunteers
for this event at Bonfante Gardens. The event will be held on Saturday
morning June 25th. I'm sure Pat could use a few more volunteers and it is a
cheap way to see the park! They really appreciate our support also.

The Field Day this year is once again at Doe Flat campgrounds on Fremont
peak. From US 101, take Rt 156 to San Juan Bautista but stay on it until it
runs into a the traffic light on the south side of town. This is where
Alameda intersects Rt 156. Turn right at the intersection (away from San Juan
Bautista). You will now be on San Juan Canyon Road (county road G1). After
about 2 blocks there is a brown and white sign that directs you to make a jog
to the left. It indicates that the park is 11 miles away. After the left jog
you will need make a right jog almost immediately to stay on G1. Look for
another brown and white sign that confirms that Fremont Park is ahead on this
road. Doer Flat is the first campground you'll run into. There is a road
that leads through a gate up a hill and to the left to the campground site.

We'll have 2 HF stations. Thom West's Icom and Louis's Kenwood. I We'll
probably have the regular UHF/VHF stations also. t will be very relaxed this
year by comparison to last year, however. Come on up to see what it is like.
get on the air with us. It is a great way to experience quite a number of
aspects of the hobby you'll not get behind an HT!

Be on the lookout for Matt Gillis, KG6TLJ. I did some "Elmering" with Matt
last week and got his HT going. Hope you guys hear him and give him a shout
on W6GGF/R. Matt is into gliders in a big way and was very interesting to
talk to. His son is interested in the hobby as well. So, welcome him aboard
the hobby when you hear him.

Congratulations to some new hams: KG6YON (Libby Sofer) and KG6YOM (Kelly
Morgan). Way to go you guys! We are proud of you! Let us know if you guys
need any "Elmering" too!

Anyone in the club want to take responsibility for pulling together an
informal e-mail based news letter? We can use it to describe the last
meeting, give the EC reports for the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill and
tell about upcoming events as well as some human interest stories! It is an
opportunity for you to be creative too! And there isn't any licking of
stamps and envelopes involved! Let me know if you are interested. If I get
multiple folks interested we'll share it! Content is more important than
format I think so you won't have to make it pretty and/or fancy!

All for now. 73 and hope to either see you at Field Day or work you for a
couple of points!

   Frank, N7Ff
