Subject: [Scc-ec] Drill this Saturday
Hi Again
Remember, there will be a county-wide ARES/RACES drill this Saturday
afternoon, starting at 2:00 pm, with set-up to begin no earlier than 12:00.
This will be a drill where we make the assumption that our EOCs are out of
operation, that the repeaters are out of operation, and that we are in a
simplex world. or example, we will be setting up the Santa Clara County
station in the parking lot across from the Sheriff's Building.
So, all voice message traffic will be simplex - using the output frequency of
the W6TI repeater, 147.360. Packet will be performed on 2-meter, 144.910.
Note that the normal W6XSC-1 packet BBS will NOT be monitored - an alternate
site for the BBS will be announced at the beginning of the drill. We will be
making more detailed announcements regarding this packet traffic as the drill
begins on Saturday.
I have decided to maintain the 440 link as a repeater connection, so that we
can help cities who have trouble either with voice or packet traffic. I know,
I know, this is NOT the way it would be if we really had everything out of
operation, but I would like to solve problems that arise this Saturday,
rather than simply find that we HAVE problems, and think that having at least
ONE repeater connection is the way to go.
So, talk and packet to you on Saturday!
Larry
