Thanks Lou. That will work fine.

Jim and Bill,

You folks have volunteered to help setup on Friday, April 30th. Thanks a
million. I plan to take off work a half day on the 30th so I'll be in Morgan
Hill by noon. Peggy and Dave Jones will be our hosts at the Museum and
they'll be there from noon to 5pm and then they'll want to close up for the
night.

>From Lou's place near San Juan Bautista, we need to pickup the following:
yagi antenna (and small mast section if possible)
   rotor
   rotor cable
   rotor control box
   coax
   antenna assembly documentation
   3 guy "stakes"
   sledge
   jack for stake removal
   3 coils of rope

>From Tony's we need to pickup the following:
   new telescoping mast
   mast base
   mast supports
   ladder

Jim said he has a trailer and I suppose we could make this a single run. If
you have a truck Bill, we could get the antenna stuff from Lou's while Jim
gets the stuff from Tony's.

I'll bring the following from my home:
   2 card tables
   4 chairs
   FT100 HF/UHF/VHF rig
   UHF/VHF J-pole and 15 ft mast
   Mike and key
   Power supply
   power cord
   AC outlet strip
handouts on ham radio and GVARC
sample QSL cards from around the world
Sign showing "Special Event Amateur Radio Station W6H"

Jim may bring some Microwave radio gear (I would like to see that)
Other folks could bring their HTs

Everyone,

Operation of W6H, our special event station, is not quite lined up so help
me out with some volunteering:

Saturday 5/1 7am - Noon
   Frank N7FF
   Thom KD6CJX
   more??
Saturday 5/1 Noon - 4PM
   Jim KA6VVE ?
   More??
Sunday 5/2 7am - Noon
   Randy W6JZE
   More??
Sunday 5/2 Noon - 4PM
Frank N7FF (want to be there for take down)
   More ??

If we have a general or extra class volunteer we can operate HF otherwise we
could operate UHF/VHF and possible talk to repeaters and Bob's IRLP node.

  Regards, frank

Frank, I won't be able to get that stuff together until Thursday evening.
You can pick it up on Friday. Lou

  Jim and Bill,

Thanks for volunteering to help set up the demonstration ham station
Friday afternoon, April 30th for use at the "Wings and Things" event on May
1-2. We'll have W6H special event call for our use.

I'll bring my radio, power supply, mike and key. I'd like to get the
club's new mast and the rotor and beam and put it up as well.

  Tony,

can you make the club's mast accessible for us to pick it up Friday
afternoon?

  Lou,

Can you help accumulate what we will need for the beam so we can pick it
up Friday as well? (or earlier).

     regards, frank

  Frank,

I'll be available on Friday all day (4/30/04) to help set up. We can use
my trailer to haul anything required including the tower, antenna etc. Give
me a call and we can sort out the details.

  >Hi all,
  >
  >You have shown interest in being a part of the demonstration station at
this year's "Wings and Things" on May 1st and 2nd. The event is open from
7am to 4pm each of those days and we need to setup the station Friday night.
I copied you on a message to Peggy Jones and I'll pass along the reply when
received. As you have read, we are still up in the air regarding the
antenna. I would like to use the Club's new mast and the club beam but I
don't have a truck and we need to get the antenna, rotor and mast together
and make sure they will work alright. If anyone is willing to help do the
assembly before the event, that would be great. Otherwise, I have asked
randy W6JZE to loan us his R7 and that can go up in a flash.

a General class ham present at all times.

  >Hi Peggy,

  >I want to plan the setup of the ham station at the Museum. Can we come
down late Friday afternoon? We will probably have a couple of card tables
(easier hauling) and a few chairs. The event is from 7am to 4pm each day
and I will try and have 2-4 hams at the table all during that period. Do
you need their names now?
  >
  >We have acquired a special event call sign for the station, W6H. I chose
it for the "Wings" of "History". The 6 is required in a ham call and means
California. We are authorized to use this call only during the event but it
draws attention to our station because it is rare. Our intent is to send
special "QSL" cards out to those we talk to during the event to acknowledge
the contact and let them have a memory of the event as well. Our club will
take care of the expense of that, however.
  >
  >Our antenna for the event is still undecided but if we go with out "beam"
antenna we'll need 2-3 hours to put it up and check it out. If we don't
have that amount of time, we'll bring a vertical antenna that can go up in
less than an hour. Right now, I'm kind of leaning toward the easy antenna
approach.

  >Thank you, Frank, for all the great information. We are very glad that
your group has decided to join us for the Wings of History Fly-in May 1 & 2
and we're looking forward to meeting you on Saturday. The Meeting runs
from 10:00 am to 12:00 and then some and you may not want to hear about all
the things that are going on. So, I suggest that you come toward the end of
the meeting about 11:45. That way you can meet us and then go out and
discuss where your demonstration area might be. However, if you want to
hear everything come ealier.

  >We had in mind a card table or a table about 2 times that width. On it we
would have 1 or 2 complete radio stations. One would operate on lower
frequencies (HF) and would be there to demonstrate long distance
communication. The antenna to support this station would need to be away
from people and we would need to run a coax cable to it. It could be quite a
way away from the table. We have a couple of antennas in mind and I will be
able to make a choice and describe what we would do after seeing where we
could possibly place it.

  >The second station may be a simple hand held radio demonstrating our
repeater and communication toa number of others in the area. There are many
repeaters provided by ham organizations and some are linked together to form
powerful communication networks.

may demonstrate as well. I'll know for sure later. Perhaps I c an do some of
these emos at the meeting Saturday.
