Hi Guys,
Drive Around the world, a Non-Profit, based in Los Gatos, and led by Nick
Baggerly, will be leaving in October on an expedition around the world.
Nick is already licensed, but needs to find a South Bay area rapid training
course to get principals of the expedition also licensed, preferably to a
general class level. They will be carrying ham radio. They are also looking
for a seasoned APRS'er to select and install a suite of APRS equipment for
tracking their 9 month journey.
I hope to get Nick to come to the Visalia DX convention to speak informally
about the ham aspects. If your radio club needs a speaker, Nick is a great
one.
Their expeditions are covered extensively at these two websites.
see http://www.svcn.com/archives/lgwt/20030312/lgcover.shtml
or: http://www.drivearoundtheworld.com
Also, Nick is inviting guests to share 2 week slices of the
experience,(FREE, if you are selected) you only have to pay your way to/from
your pickup/dropoff points.
Write a good proposal for a beneficial project on a 2 week leg, and you
might be chosen to participate.
Call Nick at (408) 354-3289
or (408) 316-3996 or email him at [email protected]
