You have a great opportunity to further promote ham radio in general, or the 
N6IJ station in particular, by writing (e-mailing)  letters to the COAST 
WEEKLY editor, which are often published in quantity on successive issues of 
the paper.

The article ( http://www.coastweekly.com ---Features----Ether)  touched on 
the magicalness, physics..(ionosphere) long range, loneliness, wierd sounds  
("sounds like the inside of a submarine....") humanitarian aid, anachronism, 
  backup generator...Antennas, contesting, boy scouts, ship from Tahiti, 
Morse Code, Steering wheel to the world... etc....

BTW,  I only answered the Journalist's questions, and he went where he 
wanted...and I had no direct part in penning the article....but I think it 
reads well....

Pick one of these or other topics to elaborate on, or support from the 
perspective of a reader (and ham, if you are one...) and write a letter to 
the editor..
