Probably not worth the effort.

Our TTY machines are designed to operate _asynchronously_ and will work 
with motor speed differences of 5 to 10%.

At 60wpm, a data bit is 22ms and the machine only needs about 4 ms to 
make the mark/space decision.  So there can be some slop in the motor speed.
