Keep in mind, we're dealing with MECHANICS with these
monsters ... not electronics! we can SEE how the mechanics
work, and we can run them in slow motion.

Have you turned off the motor, connected the kbd and the
selector magnet in a local look, turn the motor (in the
proper direction), press a key on the keyboard, keep turning
the motor and WATCH the mechanics ... you should see the
selector magnet select the 5 codes of the key you pressed;
then you should see the transfer levers moving into place
(clearly these are working correctly as you get correct
characters printed); just keep turning the motor BY HAND
and watching. Watch carefully when the typebar is thrust
toward the platen -- watch the LINKAGE that ratchets the
platen to the next line. there is a lever that pulls a ratchet
that snaps the platen to the next 'notch' for the next line.

SOMETHING releases that lever ... you need to keep
sending characters from the keyboard and turning the
motor by hand until you can SEE what is tripping that
LF lever ... then look for the adjustment related to that
lever and ratchet pawl. It's all mechanical and adjustable.

I just read Wayne's response to you, with the very nice
graphic drawings ... but I'm going to send my response
anyway just to reinforce his suggestions !!

good luck with it.
