I've had this happen.  Here are my writeups on two motors I repaired:

a) A Tally high-soeed paper-tape reader motor (1/30 hp)

b) A 1/3 hp motor for a table saw

Both motors were induction motors, one split phase, the bigger one with
a starting winding.
