To answer the question regarding Navy gear, Im volunteering on the Battleship New Jersey, which is a museum ship, trying to get some TTY gear running again. The demods Im working on were a pair I brought home that were more or less malfunctioning at the ship, due to age, bad caps, and who knows what else.

I know theres other groups interested in other military gear like Army and all, but Navy, with the ships, used Teletype gear pretty heavily, especially over radio, hence lots of TTY gear made specifically for the Navy. Some of those ships are now museums, and Im not sure you'd find a decommed Army barracks as a museum (great something to Google).

(Actually, Infoage in NJ was a former Army Barracks turned museum, but all former Army anything there is long gone, except for the Project Diana dish which was restored. It definitely has that Beetle Bailey vibe though.)
